Looking for an extra special experience in Jackson Hole that provides the quest of western wildlife and culture?  A horse-drawn sleigh ride onto the elk refuge is a unique activity to add to your list this winter.

At the National Elk Refuge, people of all ages and groups can experience taking a horse-drawn sleigh ride among the elk herds.  Hundreds of elk surround the refuge, sometimes even a thousand.  This is a photographer’s dream with spectacular viewing of the elk in their natural habitat.

A private contractor, Double H Bar, Inc. operate the sleigh rides in the National Elk Refugee and will run from Saturday, December 15, 2018 to Saturday, April 6, 2019.  Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except for Christmas Day.

Dress warm for the sleigh ride as temperatures can be colder in the valley, especially on a windy day when the wind whips through.  As in any winter activity, dress in layers, bring a hat, gloves, sunglasses and warm foot ware.

Tickets can be bought at the Jackson Hole and Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center or call 307.733.0277 or 1.800.772.5386. Reservations are not required, however they are available and requested for private tours and groups of 20 people or more.
