Snow in October for Jackson Hole

Written by Kyra Demla | Oct 9, 2018 4:39:08 PM

After a beautiful September with sunny days (zero inches of precipitation I may add), foliage providing one of the best Autumn’s to date, and snowcapped mountains surrounding the town… the weather has taken a shift.  As September came to an end with zero inches of precipitation, October brought the first snow.  And it wasn’t just a dusting!  Winter seekers will be delighted to hear there was quite a bit of precipitation on Corbet’s Cabin and into the high peaks.  Snow was measured around 4 to 6 inches and some drifts appeared to look like more.

As snow moved into Jackson Hole last week, with precipitation in the forecast for the next few days, locals and tourists from afar anticipate another legendary winter ahead.  The past two winters provided for more than ample snow fall for Jackson and the Tetons coming in at over 500 inches on the upper mountains.  Snow seekers from across the country (and world) heard ole man winter was continuously making its appearance to Jackson Hole providing never-ending powder days.  Hoots and hollers were far and wide as people skied some of the best terrain in the west.  I couldn’t get enough of the glorious snow days… and also couldn’t believe how plentiful the powder days had become.  If there wasn’t a foot of snow on the car in the morning, it seemed like an off day.

This winter is on target to provide another snow filled escape to vacationers and locals alike.  Get your boots out, start watching ski movies, and book your Jackson Hole vacation now.  Check out www.jacksonhole.me for more information on lodging deals and things to do.
